Introduction to TABCEDCO
The Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Economic Development Corporation, popularly known as TABCEDCO, was established in 1982. It functions as a government-owned corporation registered under the Companies Act, 1956. The main purpose of TABCEDCO is to support the economic development of people belonging to Backward Classes (BC), Most Backward Classes (MBC), and Denotified Communities (DNC).
By serving as a channelizing agency for the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), TABCEDCO provides financial assistance for individuals and groups with government-backed guarantees.
Objectives of TABCEDCO
The core mission of TABCEDCO is to empower marginalized communities by giving them access to affordable loans. These loans are meant to encourage entrepreneurship, self-employment, agriculture, irrigation projects, small trades, and handicrafts.
The vision of the corporation is not just to provide money, but to create opportunities for sustained income and uplift the overall socio-economic status of these communities.
Loan Schemes by TABCEDCO
Individual Loan Scheme
The Individual Loan Scheme provides financial assistance up to ₹25 lakh for eligible beneficiaries. Funding is shared between NBCFDC, TABCEDCO, and the beneficiary. Interest rates are affordable, starting at 7%, with flexible repayment terms ranging from 1.5 years to 6 years.
Group Loan Scheme
Self-Help Groups (SHGs) can access financial support through group loan programs. Women’s SHGs benefit from schemes like Mahila Samridi Yojana, where loans are provided with low interest and easy repayment options. Another initiative, the New Swarnima Scheme, allows women entrepreneurs to borrow up to ₹2 lakh for various business ventures.
Sector-Specific Schemes
TABCEDCO also supports funding across sectors like agriculture, irrigation, transportation, small-scale trade, self-employment projects, and traditional industries. This includes loans for starting beauty parlors, running auto-rickshaws, setting up small shops, purchasing farming equipment, and more.
